Hey want to join the Calvary Assembly of God “twitter prayer team”?
What’s it all about?
This is an experiment in using technology (in this case text messaging) to help us become people who “pray continuously”.
The idea is that you sign up for a twitter account (we’ll explain that in a minute) and follow the cagprayer twitter account . Every time a prayer request is posted to “cagprayer” you will receive the request via text message - then all you do is pray! A simple way to pray for the needs of others throughout the day.
This past Sunday night Pastor Ryan spoke about the Adventure of Mission
Two week ago 16 students and 4 leaders discovered that the Bible was more than just a history book, or stories to read your kids at night. The Bible became reality because we put action to what we have heard and read. Over 50 residents with homes falling apart saw 400 teens and adults prove that God’s Word doesn’t just say He loves them, but that he will show them through His people’s action’s!
During this series, we’d like to invite you to share your stories of adventure here on the Quest blog. We aren’t alone in this adventure and openly sharing our story is one way we come to understand this.
So…
What adventure is God currently leading / calling you into?
Are you in the midst of an adventure? What is God teaching you; how is He stretching you?
Are you struggling with saying “YES” to His call? Share your struggles and thoughts here and allow the community to encourage, strengthen, and pray for you.
How is God working in you through that particular week’s “adventure challenge”?
This past Sunday we had a great time of fun! It was Calvary Assembly of God day (our church anniversary) and we got together for a special night of food and fun. We had a “text wall” going that people could text message a praise report or just random funny thought to.
Then we hooked up the Wii for a special match between “Pastor Coon” and “Jody Wood” (played by Paul George and Eva Cassas) followed by “Dr Phi” vs “Oprah”.
After the boxing match, we enjoyed the comedy of Tim Hawkins
Here’s a clip:
All in all, we had a great time. Thanks to everyone who came out, and a big thanks to those that brought some food to share!
Next week, we won’t gather because of Fathers day, but we’ll be back on June 22 for a brand new exciting series entitled The Lost Adventure of Following Jesus (cue the Indiana Jones music).
The Point of the series has been to learn about the Trinity so we can better our relationship with God. For many of us, it is easier to think relationally with Father or Son than the Holy Spirit; but we can’t become who God wants us to be without the Holy Spirit.
If you got a text message while talking to someone, would you answer it? Do you get upset when someone answers the phone while talking to you—or sends a text message? Many people get upset because they feel Continue Reading »
Father, Son, Spirit. They all exist and work together in complete unity.
The Holy Spirit’s “job” is empowering disciples of Jesus to “carry the torch” and to become like Him.
The HS is often the neglected, forgotten, and misunderstood member of the Trinity. But that does not mean He is any less important. We cannot ignore Him; it is through Him that we are able to do the things Jesus commands us, it is in Him that we live the life that God wants us to live, and it is by Him that we are transformed to become more like Jesus.
We’re back to our “normal” Quest this Sunday night. This week we are continuing our series Meeting God as we take a look at the third person of the Trinity - The Holy Spirit.
So let me ask: What have you been taught and what do you believe about the Holy Spirit? What are some questions you have?
