Spirit Led

In our day heaven and earth are on tiptoe waiting for the emergence of a Spirit-led, Spirit-intoxicated, Spirit-empowered people. All of creation watches expectantly for the springing up of a disciplined, freely gathered, martyr people who know in this life the life and power of the kingdom of God. It has happened before. It can happen again. - Richard Foster

The greatest weapon you have for evangelism is your own story!

Discussion questions:

When Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations” who and what did He mean?
Is there a difference between an evangelist and a witness? If so, what?
Who is responsible to share Christ?
What Scripture verses would you use to share Christ?
What Scripture verses would you use to share Christ?
What are the hesitations in sharing Christ today?
You have a family member, neighbor, or a friend who is on their death bed. They do not know Christ – what are you going to do?
List Scripture that indicate you do not have a responsibility to influence souls to Christ.

The Adventure of Transformation

Last night, we talked about the internal adventure of transformation.

God wants to not only work through us but in us.

The good works of reaching people (which we learned about last week) must ultimately flow from within a transformed soul.

The Adventure of Reaching People

This past Sunday night Pastor Ryan spoke about the Adventure of Mission

Two week ago 16 students and 4 leaders discovered that the Bible was more than just a history book, or stories to read your kids at night. The Bible became reality because we put action to what we have heard and read. Over 50 residents with homes falling apart saw 400 teens and adults prove that God’s Word doesn’t just say He loves them, but that he will show them through His people’s action’s!

Meeting God: The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

Father, Son, Spirit. They all exist and work together in complete unity.

The Holy Spirit’s “job” is empowering disciples of Jesus to “carry the torch” and to become like Him.

The HS is often the neglected, forgotten, and misunderstood member of the Trinity. But that does not mean He is any less important. We cannot ignore Him; it is through Him that we are able to do the things Jesus commands us, it is in Him that we live the life that God wants us to live, and it is by Him that we are transformed to become more like Jesus.

Meeting Jesus notes 5/4/08

The “Message” of Jesus is that God’s kingdom and the kingdom life that comes with it is near and available now and that “eternal life” is not just “life when you die” but it is relationship with God (John 17:3)

The “Ministry” of Jesus / of God’s Kingdom is this: serve one another in love

Meeting Jesus notes 4/27/08

The Message

You cannot separate the Man from the Message. Nor can you separate the Mission from the Ministry. With Jesus, it all works together: man, message, mission, ministry.

Jesus was the epitome of “practice what you preach” - He WAS what He preached.

The message flowed out of WHO he was.

His teaching “amazed” people and his audience commented several times that he spoke “with authority” and not like the pharisees. (ouch)

His Message drew and transformed, enraged and engaged, confronted and challenged people. It ultimately got him killed . And it is still effecting our world today.

Jesus’ Message is central to who He is and it is central to our relationship with God.

Meeting God–when He came to Meet us

God created us as relational beings—we naturally want friends and relationships.

mySpaceFacebookmyChurch
I am on all three “social networks” so I can connect with people. I love getting “friend requests” and connecting with new people or old friends. But there’s definitely a dark side to the web and what one can see on sites like mySpace. While we can argue about whether Jesus would be on mySpace, but we can also see how God becomes flesh and enters our space. John 1: 14 reveals that He’s become part of mySpace…OurSpace…. God, in the person of Jesus, came to “friend request” us.

Everything in Xnty hinges on Jesus—it’s what separates us from other religions. Jesus is not just a prophet, wise man, etc. He is the centerpiece of Christian faith and who He is affects everything we know about God
